Ensuring Healthy Pups: The Health Tests Our Dogs Undergo
As a dedicated dog breeder, my top priority is the health and well-being of our furry friends. We want our pups to not only bring joy to your life but also to be robust and healthy companions. That's why we go the extra mile to ensure they undergo a series of comprehensive health tests. Today, I’d like to share with you the various health tests our dogs undergo as part of our breeding program.
OFA HIP Testing
First up, we have the OFA Hip testing. This test helps us assess the hip joint conformation of our dogs, screening for hip dysplasia. Healthy hips mean our pups can run, jump, and play without discomfort.
OFA Elbows Testing
Next is the OFA Elbows testing. Similar to the hip test, this one checks for elbow dysplasia. We want to ensure our dogs have strong, pain-free elbows, which is crucial for their overall mobility and quality of life.
OFA Patella Testing
Our dogs also undergo OFA Patella testing. This test evaluates the kneecaps to make sure they are stable and not prone to luxation (dislocation). Stable patellas are essential for a dog’s ability to move comfortably and maintain an active lifestyle.
OFA Heart Testing
Heart health is vital, so we include OFA Heart testing in our routine. This test checks for any congenital heart conditions, ensuring our dogs have strong, healthy hearts that keep them going for many joyful years.
OFA Eyes Testing
The eyes are the windows to the soul – and to a dog’s health! OFA Eyes testing helps us detect any hereditary eye conditions early on. Clear, healthy eyes are a must for our pups to see the world beautifully.
Genetic Testing
Lastly, we conduct comprehensive genetic testing through Embark, Animal Genetics, and/or PawPrint Genetics. These tests screen for a variety of genetic disorders and traits, allowing us to understand and manage any potential hereditary issues.
By performing these tests, we’re committed to maintaining the highest standards of health and happiness in our dogs. We believe that a healthy dog is a happy dog, and a happy dog makes for a delighted family.
